THE SEXUAL RIGHTS CHARTER

Following on from my work with Dr Sharron Hinchliff on Portraits of a Menopause, she put me forward for a commission with Age Friendly Sheffield, who were working on putting together a Sexual Rights Charter (the first of its kind in the UK). The charter would help tackle discrimination within sexual health services towards older people, promote inclusive practice and ensure that no matter your age, you get the support/treatment you need.

Having already worked with Sharron once, knowing she was an excellent client and all round great supporter of my work, I was more than happy to get involved and be part of the Sexual Rights Charter. Being part of projects that have impact, promote inclusivity and improve the community experience is at the very core of my work.

I worked with AFS to create a series of 10 illustrations, depicting positive illustrations of older individuals and couples, as vibrant sexual beings, engaged in their sexual health and embracing their bodies. These images would then be narrowed down to a solid top six that would be included in the SRC to act as visual representations of the research and material. They were also showcased at the charter launch event at Sheffield Winter Garden, hlighting the main aims and purpose of the charter. You can view the charter ➡️ here ⬅️
